Betwixt & Between

Poems
"It is probable that the pre-ecstatic euphoria [of the shaman] constituted one of the universal sources of lyric poetry." - Mircea Eliade
"Poetic creation still remains an act of perfect spiritual freedom. Poetry remakes and prolongs language; every poetic language begins by being a secret language, that is, the creation of a personal universe, of a completely closed world." - Mircea Eliade

Duality
Slowly the darkness it crept up on me,
I forgot the meaning of living in harmony,
I peck at the shell that's become my tomb,
I wish and will to return to the mother's womb.

Like a blanket dusk falls and turns to night,
My shadowy projections take over and dance with delight,
I light a candle and watch it flicker with hope,
It has more staying power than me swinging from a rope.

If we honour the light then we too must bless the abyss,
For without it, we wouldn't know the warmth of lights kiss,
Hooting an owl echoes through the trees and moss
Can I find love in my heart when the world feels lost.

Stag, deer ancient teacher of this land,
I beg for you to reach out your antler or a helping hand,
I'm finding increasingly who I am not,
My problem is I'm a mess and I'm tied up in knots.

Who am I? Well I have no fucking clue,
Perhaps over time I'll be reborn and made new,
But first a chance to release all that is weighing me down,
I wish to rise up, spread my wings and fly to a far away town.
